TMK checker and Hawaiʻi land rules guide
Paste a Hawaiʻi TMK in any form and get the standard form, what each part means, and a link to the lot. Below it, plain explanations of the land rules a sheet shows.
How a TMK is built
The standard form is D-Z-S-PPP-PPP-CCCC:
- D, division. The County: 1 Oʻahu, 2 Maui County (Maui, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe), 3 Hawaiʻi Island, 4 Kauaʻi (with Niʻihau).
- Z, zone. A large district of the island.
- S, section. A part of the zone.
- PPP, plat. One tax map sheet in the section.
- PPP, parcel. The lot on that plat.
- CCCC, CPR unit. Only for a unit in a condominium property regime; otherwise left off or 0000.
Tax bills and County sites often drop the division digit and put it in brackets, as in (4) 4-2-016-063. Eight digits are a TMK without the division; the checker shows the lot on each island so you can pick yours.
Where to find yours
On the property tax bill, the deed, the listing, or the County real property tax site. If you only have an address, type it on the map and the sheet shows the TMK at the top. More on reading one: What is a TMK.
