Kauaʻi parcel lookup by TMK
Kauaʻi has the deepest sheet in ParcelSheet: the County of Kauaʻi map layers on top of the State and federal ones. Zoning, hazards and the rules for the lot on one sheet, free to start.
Free, no account. Or open the Kauaʻi map and tap a lot.
What a Kauaʻi sheet shows
- County zoning, the dimensional rules for the base district (setbacks, height, lot coverage) and what the code lists for adding to the lot
- Kauaʻi General Plan land use, Special Planning Areas and Special Treatment districts
- Special Management Area, shoreline setback with the erosion transects, and the Sea Level Rise Constraint District
- FEMA flood zone, tsunami evacuation zone, sea level rise with 3.2 ft, wildfire risk, landslide and dam zones
- Vacation rental standing and Visitor Destination Areas
- Water and wastewater service, wells and depth to water, KIUC power reliability, soils, wetlands and historic properties nearby
- Elevation, slope and sun exposure from the USGS lidar elevation, and a 3D view of the lot
Zoning rules are read from Kauaʻi County Code Chapter 8, the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. Every card names its source, the layer it came from and the date of the data, so you can check it yourself.
Worth checking on Kauaʻi
- Shoreline lots: the shoreline setback is set from the certified shoreline and the erosion rate, so the sheet shows the transects next to the lot.
- The Special Management Area covers most of the coast. Work inside it usually needs an SMA permit from the Planning Department.
- Vacation rentals: outside a Visitor Destination Area a vacation rental needs a nonconforming use certificate, so the sheet shows which side of the line the lot is on.
How to find a Kauaʻi TMK
Kauaʻi TMKs start with 4. The TMK is on the property tax bill, the listing, and the county real property tax site. ParcelSheet also takes a street address or a Zillow link, or you can tap the lot on the map. How to read a TMK.
Before you rely on it
The sheet is public records and maps with sources, not legal advice, a survey or a permit. Confirm anything you will build or sign on with the Kauaʻi Planning Department, (808) 241-4050.
